TAG Bridging Diversity Conference

The first annual conference of the Thurrock African Group (TAG), sponsored by Essex Community Foundation, was held on Saturday 17 January 2009 at the Thameside Theatre, Grays, Essex, from 10.00am.

This conference looked at the theme “Bridging Diversity: Problems, Challenges and Prospects”, speakers and workshops explored and discussed issues of; Education, Immigration, Community Safety, Health and Wellbeing, Business and Procurement, Faith and Spirituality and Youth Provisions and facilities.

The tremendous effort put in planning the conference was obvious from the attendance, the quality of speakers and the activities that took place at the gathering. Present at the event were representatives from the Council, Primary Care Trust, Police, Enterprise Agency, Voluntary services, religious groups, and the Thurrock MP, Mr Andrew Mackinlay, with over 100 delegates in attendance. A very positive feedback have been received from the majority of people that were there.

A full report of the conference is being prepared and will be published as soon as practicable.
Please click the link below to watch a video clip of the Chair, Bukky Okunade and Thurrock MP, Andrew Mackinlay being interviewed by Michael Casey’s of Your Thurrock at the conference.
